A CAREER IN THE TAXI INDUSTRY Welcome to Garden City Cabs. Please take a few minutes to read the following as an introduction to the Taxi Industry. Whether you are seeking a career, supplementary income or investment in the Taxi Industry, the aim of Garden City Cabs is to professionally prepare you for success through our comprehensive training program. Queensland Transport sets minimum standards for qualification as a Taxi Driver to protect the travelling public, taxi drivers and taxi operators. Garden City Cabs driver training program reaches beyond minimum standards and assists new drivers to be commercially successful from day one. The dates for upcoming courses are set out in the attached schedule. Courses commence on a Monday evening at 5:30 pm and run for approximately 4 hours on 4 consecutive evenings. You are advised that the fee for the course is $350.00, which includes all training material required. 2013 Training Course Dates Choose a course date, complete the application form and return to the Garden City Cabs office to ensure your reservation. Training Course dates 2012 -2013 May 6th - 9th May 27th - 30th June 17th - 20th July 8th - 11th July 29th - Aug 1st Aug 19th - 22nd Sep 9th - 12th Sep 30th - Oct 3rd Oct 21st - 24th Nov 11th - 14th Dec 2nd - 5th Dec 16th - 19th Commencement is 5.30 pm each evening. The course involves both theory and practical learning and examinations. The course also includes a comprehensive tour of the city to familiarise you with key locations and important sources of business for Garden City Cabs. Payment in full is required on the second evening of each course. Failure to make this payment will not allow you to continue any further with the course, unless other arrangements have been made with the Manager. You may choose to make application to Queensland Transport for Driver Authorisation prior to commencement of the training course which will shorten the overall time period before actually driving a Taxi. Queensland Transport requires time to complete their necessary checks on you in regard to your CIB, medical and driving history. (Forms available at Qld Transport or Garden City Cabs) The training course includes several tests including the driver theory test, locality test and final examination. The Drivers Hand books used during the course must be left in the training room at the end of the course. Please take note that Garden City Cabs do not employ any drivers - all of our drivers are engaged on a Bailor / Bailee basis and any arrangements regarding the driving of a cab are to be made with the taxi operator. Garden City Cabs will introduce trainees to our taxi operators seeking drivers. Garden City Cabs reserves the right to alter amend or cancel any intended training course due to circumstances that may or may not be within its control. |
